no posts the last 2 weeks

Greetings everyone,

I'd like to apologize for not posting until now. On the day of my last post, I spent the evening at my partner's cousin's house, babysitting their two young children. For the 1st time in months i felt fantastic, my stamina knew no end! then about 1 hr after getting home i felt horrible again. This is when my partner and i began to suspect something in our apartment could have been at the root of all my health problems these past couple of years.

The next day i went on a little treasure hunt around the apartment and my god what did i find in our spare bedroom (which we never used and kept closed most of the time)? Black mold spores everywhere on the walls, the baseboards, along the wood of the windows and inside the closet. Take a look at these pictures...

Completely disgusted, I emailed my landlord the pictures. The very next day he called asking if he could come over and see it for himself. He told us that we should leave immediately. Then had an inspector in the next day, this inspector said we could stay in the unti while there is black mold. That his crew will begin tearing down the walls and be running an air purifying machine while they work. I've watched Mike Holmes of Holmes on Homes and the fact this inspector/contractor said that SCARED THE CRAP OUT OF ME!!!

So then, our landlord agreed to not charge us rent for Dec if we had to stay there all month since finding a place and moving out by Dec 1st when it was Dec 26th was almost impossible.

But I can now tell you that the law of attraction really does work. After calling dozens of places with no callbacks, and being told by everyone to get rid of my 3 cats because nobody rents to pet owners anymore. I got fed up, and in despair closed my eyes and literally yelled commands to the universe to give me an apt that is representative of us, had brand new windows (always had ventilation problems prior), good quality security system, a pantry to stock up on food (we love to cook at home and always had problems with storage), and built-in a/c system so we don't sweat to death in the summers. Well, as I was doing this, my partner had a gut feeling to check the online rental listings once again, and found this one that had just gone up. The superintendant couldn't show the place until the weekend, when we explained that was too late for us, he offered to show it to us later that night.

To our amazement, it was in a small building that had a new security door system installed recently, all suites had new windows and carpet installed the month before, it had built-in a/c in all units, adn the super loved cats, he had 2 himself!!!! and this apartment was in a building with no children, only young professionals, it's located 3 blocks away from my partner's work downtown, and 2 houses up from the city's top sushi restaurant, and 1 block up from 2 large drugstores, and an organic grocery store and vitamin shop. Now for the best part, it's $50/mnth cheaper than our old place!

So we called the super back that night and he told us it's ours if we wanted it. He didn't even have our last names yet, and gave us the keys! So I've been busy throwing out old clutter and evacuating the mold infested basement apartment. Good thing too, because we found a dead mouse in the mold infested room too!

Now that i'm nicely settled into my new place and after 8 days without internet, finally have all my utilities installed. I'm feeling better than ever!

Don't underestimate the power of a few little black mold spores on a window sill. If I would of known, i would of saved myself lots of problems a long time ago. Immediately after being out of that place, i had enough energy to do housework and go walk outside. This whole time thinking it wat my thyroid and weight that disabled me. Now i know that our homes can be killing us slowly and most of us don't even know it!
